Keeping Learners Safe, Heard and Supported
At Remedicare Education, safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. We are committed to creating an environment where every learner feels safe, valued, respected and supported.
As a specialist Alternative Provision provider, we recognise that some of the children and young people we support may experience additional safeguarding vulnerabilities, including communication difficulties, SEND, previous trauma, social care involvement or barriers to accessing education.
Our approach is learner-centred, relationship-led and focused on early identification, professional curiosity and effective partnership working.
Our Safeguarding Commitment
We believe safeguarding should be embedded in everything we do — not treated as a separate process.
Our safeguarding practice is reflected in:
-
Learning and personalised programmes
-
Behaviour and regulation support
-
Individual planning
-
Risk assessments
-
Attendance monitoring
-
Transport and community activities
-
Online safety
-
Staff recruitment and training
-
Daily relationships and interactions with learners
We work closely with families, schools, Local Authorities, social care, health professionals and other safeguarding partners to ensure concerns are identified and responded to appropriately.
Our Safeguarding Principles

Everyone's Responsibility
Every member of our team has a responsibility to recognise, report and respond to safeguarding concerns.
Professional Curiosity
We encourage staff to ask questions, seek clarification and act when something does not feel right.
Learner-Centred
The welfare, best interests, voice, wishes and feelings of the learner remain central to safeguarding decisions.
Partnership Working
We work with families, schools, Local Authorities, social care, health professionals and other safeguarding agencies.

Safer Recruitment
Safeguarding starts before a member of staff joins Remedicare.
We follow safer recruitment procedures designed to ensure that people working with our learners are suitable to do so.
Our procedures include:
-
Safeguarding-focused recruitment
-
Identity verification
-
Enhanced DBS checks where required
-
Right to work checks
-
Qualification checks where required
-
References
-
Appropriate pre-employment checks
-
Safeguarding induction before staff work independently with learners
Safeguarding doesn't stop when a learner accesses Alternative Provision.
We recognise our safeguarding responsibility for every learner accessing Remedicare.
We work closely with the learner's school, Local Authority, parents/carers, social workers and other professionals to ensure that relevant safeguarding information is shared and responsibilities remain clear.
We monitor attendance, communicate concerns promptly, contribute to safeguarding meetings and review risks and support needs as part of our AP provision.
